My Favorite Chicken Gravy

My Favorite Chicken Gravy

Cook time: 10 minutes

1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 3/4 cups chicken broth
2/3 cup milk
1/3 cup butter
1/2 onion, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

In a saucepan over medium heat, cook onions in butter until soft.  Stir in flour, salt, pepper,& garlic powder.  Using a whisk, slowly stir in chicken broth & 
milk.  Simmer over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until thick.


NOTE:  This is my go-to gravy.  I use this gravy over rice, potatoes, as a base in my chicken pot pie, and over anything else that needs gravy!  On Thanksgiving, I substituted the chicken broth with turkey broth and it tasted fantastic!  You could also use beef  broth instead of chicken broth if you wish.
