Homemade Croutons
Makes: about 2 cups
2-3 slices whole wheat bread, cut into small cubes
3-5 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon italian seasoning
Sprinkle of salt & black pepper
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a medium bowl, toss bread cubes, 3 tablespoons olive oil, & italian seasoning together. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper over and stir well. If seasoning is not sticking well to bread, add a little more olive oil until well absorbed.
Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and pour bread crumbs on top. Bake 8-12 minutes or until crispy/crunchy, being careful not to burn. Let cool 5-10 minutes before serving.
TIP: Toss into a fresh green salad with caesar, italian, or ranch dressing.
