Chunky Crockpot Applesauce
Makes: One LARGE bowl
Prep Time: 10-15 minutes
Cook Time: 5-8 hours on low setting
8-12 large fuji or honey crisp apples, peeled, cored, and cut into thin wedges
2 tablespoons honey
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup water
Fill crockpot to the top with apples. (Make sure you can still close with lid, but keep in mind the apples will cook down quite a bit). Add water, honey, and cinnamon, and give it a good stir. Put lid on crockpot and cook 5-8 hours on low heat, stirring every couple hours to break up apples into chunks. Applesauce is done when it looks like applesauce. (what else can I say? It isn't math or science; use your brain!) Transfer to large bowl and let cool about an hour than transfer to fridge. Keeps up to 1 week in fridge. Can transfer to freezer for up to 6 months in freezer tupperware container.
Variation: Subtract 4 apples and add 3-4 pears (peeled, cored, and cut into medium wedges). Add a little less honey as the pears make it much sweeter. So yummy!
