Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars
Makes: 1 9x13 pan
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Bake Time: 15-18 minutes
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar
1 egg
1 cup butter (2 sticks), softened (almost melted)
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 package milk chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Using kitchen aid or hand mixer, mix sugar, brown sugar, egg, butter, and vanilla extract together until smooth.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, & baking soda. (If using kitchen aid switch to dough blade; if not - do the rest by hand). Add 1/2 cup of flour mixture at a time into sugar mixture until well combined. Add chocolate chips all at once and mix well.
Pat cookie dough into 9x13 aluminum baking pan. (I have found that using my hands works best; you have to firmly pat down).
Bake for 15-18 minutes or JUST UNTIL cookie dough looks golden around edges and slightly on top. Remove from oven and cool for 30-45 minutes. Cut into squares and enjoy!!!!!
Note: The aluminum baking pan is very important for this recipe - glass does not cook the same way. I bought mine at Target for fairly cheap. ALSO: It is easy to overcook these; take them out immediately once golden; they will not look done, but need to cool for at least 30 minutes, and will be PERFECTION. Trust me, I have tested it!
